structural silicone bonding (ssb)

ESG are proud to announce that a new service offering has been added to our ever-expanding range. Due to high demand from our customers, we are now proud to be to able to offer an in house structural silicone bonding service, drawing on the vast experience of our trusted partners.

Structural silicon bonding is often required in order to provide a seamless glazing solution with mechanical fixings such as brackets, channels and frames all structurally bonded to the glass in controlled factory conditions.

Operating out of a dedicated, climate and humidity-controlled area, in accordance with ETAG002 guidelines, within the ESG factory we are offering this additional service to enable our customers to reduce the risk inherent with the additional transport between glass, bonding, and site supply.

Our structural bonding is completed using Sikasil SG500 structural silicone and is carried out in accordance with all Sika Ltd guidelines. A rigorous testing regime is paramount, and all of this is done prior to assembly so that our clients can be sure the adhesion matches the required application. Furthermore, project specific documentation can be supplied to back all of this up.

We are happy to advise on your choice of frames or fixings, as our partners are well versed in providing both glazed panels and structural bonding for all UK market-leading systems and fixtures.

We are also happy to provide permanent structural bonding for multiple glass panes without the use of frames or fixings, to allow uninterrupted expanses of glazing, using exceptional quality glass products from our own extensive ranges.

Our bonded solution is ideal for architectural balustrades, partitions, doors, and canopies, in addition to more structural elements such as floors and bridges. Working with our trusted partners, we are now one of the leading providers of Winter Garden balcony glazing systems, as well as silicone bonding for structural features such as atriums and facades, all without the need for mechanical fixings.

Our structural bonding solution allows:

  • Mechanical fixings structurally bonded to the reverse of the panel
  • {Insert tech drawing for London Bridge}
  • Glass wall linings
  • Winter Gardens
  • Brackets
  • Frames
  • Channels
  • Enables easier on-site installation
  • No stress and no pressure on the glazed panel post install

Structural bonding can be used to provide key architectural glazing features for architects and builders in both the commercial and private sectors.

In commercial settings, structural bonding has facilitated uninterrupted views in airports, train termini and other public locations, in which clearer and more open visibility is both an aesthetic benefit and a security issue.

We are very pleased to offer advice and guidance to help you to realise your construction project, helping to construct the architect’s initial concept in the built environment.
